Edinburgh Fringe stays: city buzz, coastal breathing space
A Fringe break is easier to enjoy when your accommodation and transport fit the shows you want to see. Decide whether your priority is staying close to venues or mixing festival days with time around East Lothian.
Fringe 2027: 6–30 August
The Fringe Society confirms 6–30 August 2027 for the next festival. Use its programme to check show locations, running times, age guidance and access information. Official Fringe planning information ↗. A ticket for one show is not an entry pass to other performances; review each booking carefully.
Give yourself time between venues
Group shows by area where possible. A short gap on paper may be uncomfortable once you include queues, busy streets and getting out of the previous venue. Choose a manageable first day, then leave space for a meal or a walk rather than packing the schedule from morning to midnight.
Staying on the East Lothian coast
A coastal stay can suit visitors who want a few festival days within a wider Scottish holiday. It needs a deliberate transport plan, particularly with children or a late finish. From the Seton Sands area, compare the 26 bus and nearby station options. For transport options, station links and advice on planning your return journey, see our getting around guide ↗.
Plan late shows around the return journey
Check when the show ends and how long it takes to reach your departure stop or station. Review the last suitable service and an alternative before you buy tickets. Do not treat an overnight bus as a guaranteed connection without checking its timetable.
Book accommodation for your actual plans
Review bed arrangements, check-in details and the property location before confirming. Let City & Cove know if you are choosing between a city break and a coastal stay; we can discuss the current options. Festival tickets and transport are booked separately from accommodation.
