Things to do near Seton Sands

A stay around Seton Sands can mix simple coastal days with a visit to Edinburgh. Start close to your accommodation and keep one bigger day out for when the weather and your group’s energy suit it.

Explore further along the East Lothian coast: North Berwick is one option for a separate day out.

Start with Port Seton and Cockenzie

Make your first outing an unhurried introduction to the local coast. Port Seton and Cockenzie offer a harbour setting close to the Seton Sands area. Check a walking route before leaving and choose a distance that works for everyone; do not assume every stretch of shoreline is suitable for a pushchair or wheelchair.

An Edinburgh day on the 26 bus

Service 26 connects Seton Sands with Edinburgh. It gives you an option to leave city parking out of your plans, provided the stops and timetable suit your day. Service 26 timetable ↗. For rail alternatives, compare Longniddry and Prestonpans stations with a separately planned transfer. For transport options, station links and advice on planning your return journey, see our getting around guide ↗.

Family days around East Lothian

The National Museum of Flight and Scottish Seabird Centre are options to research for a day away from the park. Think about your children’s interests and attention span before adding more than one attraction. Check opening times, entry costs, accessibility and any pre-booking requirements directly. A coast-and-village day

Choose Longniddry, Aberlady or Gullane as a starting point for exploring more of the county. A coastal day can be as simple as one planned stop and time for food. Read our town and village guide ↗.

Park activities and entertainment passes

Check the specific booking information for your property and ask the park about passes, facility access and seasonal opening. A privately booked stay does not automatically include every activity or entertainment option. Confirm any activity important to your holiday before you book.

Beach and weather planning

Check tide and weather information before heading onto the shore, supervise children and use suitable footwear. Keep a backup indoor plan. For a festival or winter city day, see our Edinburgh events guide ↗.
